Why She Drove Through the Parade (You Won't Believe It)
A woman trying to leave her apartment complex encounters a road closure and repeatedly tells officers she has to get to work. After being told she cannot drive through the blocked-off area, the situation escalates when she moves the barricade and drives into the closed street.
Officers pursue the vehicle and eventually take her into custody. Police later allege that she bumped an officer with her car and nearly struck multiple people in the pedestrian area.
She was charged with second-degree assault, two counts of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, failure to obey a reasonable and lawful order, and reckless endangerment. She later pleaded guilty to failure to obey a reasonable and lawful order; the remaining charges were dismissed. She was sentenced to 13 days in jail and two years of probation.
