Can throwing water on someone get you arrested? On September 20, 2024, police in Champaign, Illinois, arrived at a woman’s home while investigating an alleged battery involving a cup of water.
What began as a conversation at her front door quickly escalated when officers attempted to place her under arrest. She strongly disputed what was happening, repeatedly questioned whether throwing water could really lead to an arrest, and resisted as officers attempted to take her into custody.
